WINDOW FLAT INVITES
Parallel to the group show ‘Johan De Wilde invites’ that inaugurated the brand new Hopstreet Gallery Deurle, an installation show called ‘Flat invites’ will be on in the window gallery throughout next season. Fixed element ‘Flat’, a sculpture by Johan De Wilde, will connect temporarily with one or more contributions by artists Rik De Boe, Wim Bouciqué, Fabrice Souvereyns, Marc Nagtzaam en Marthe Coolens.
First in the series ‘Flat invites’ is Rik De Boe’s drawing ‘Boogie Woogie’ 2020, 152,5 X 112 cm, charcoal and oilstick on paper
‘Johan De Wilde invites’
is the opening exhibition in our second gallery space, situated in Deurle, a small village, part of Sint-Martens-Latem in a green environement.
For this first exhibition in Hopstreet Gallery Deurle, the Belgian artist Johan De Wilde invited five colleagues – Wim Bouciqué, Marthe Coolens, Rik De Boe, Johan De Wilde, Marc Nagtzaam, Fabrice Souvereyns – to use his drawing series ‘Indoor Impressionismus’ as a starting point.
Each artist reacts associatively in the hope -one can never be too sure- of generating an organically grown show. We can, however, guarantee massive concentration because this characterizes their works. That concentration has its origins in refinement and, in particular, in the way they combine their materials, methods, and artistry into a ‘perspective’, a way of life and the art of questioning.
Combine a visit with the ‘Biennale of Painting’ at three locations: museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, mudel Deinze and museum Roger Raveel in Machelen-Deinze.
Open on Saturday and Sunday from 14:00 – 18:00, until 27 September
